Message from the President

Children with disabilities in Nepal continue to face a higher risk of separation from their families and placement in institutions not because it is in their best interest, but because families lack adequate support, services, and inclusive systems. This reality represents a serious child rights concern.

The Disability Human Rights Promotion Society (DHRPS) works to change this. We are committed to advancing child rights, disability inclusion, and deinstitutionalization, ensuring that children with disabilities grow up in families and inclusive communities, not institutional care. Our work focuses on advocacy, systems strengthening, and collective action to address the root causes of child separation.

As the Lead Secretariat of Inclusive Network Nepal, DHRPS coordinates with civil society, organizations of persons with disabilities, families, youth, and government actors to promote disability-inclusive child protection systems aligned with the CRC and CRPD. We believe sustainable change requires prevention, accountability, and meaningful participation of those most affected.

Deinstitutionalization is not only a policy goal it is a necessity to protect children’s dignity, development, and future. With the support of our donors and partners, we are working to strengthen family-based care, improve gatekeeping mechanisms, and ensure that no child with a disability is left behind.

We value your partnership in building a Nepal where every child grows up in a safe, caring family and an inclusive community.
